Earlier additions to this property did not match the grandeur of its exterior. Our response was to simplify the layout and create a large, open-plan kitchen, with two generous islands and views of the garden.

A new two-storey extension introduces a double-height space, featuring a bespoke curved staircase from Bisca Staircases, with slender metal balusters. Three-metre-tall glazed doors, sheltered by a copper-clad canopy, bring in daylight while limiting heat gain. Rooflights and timber-slatted ceilings add warmth and texture.

The extension is topped with a sedum roof that helps it blend with the landscape. As the planting matures and the copper weathers, the new work will sit ever more comfortably with its surroundings and complement the existing home.
