An existing client returned with a plot already approved for a contemporary dwelling by Graham Binnington Architects. Mass Architecture resolved outstanding planning conditions and delivered the full technical package. Ross’s insider insight kept the design faithful to the approved scheme, while we worked closely with the client and craftsmen to integrate traditional detailing with modern interventions as intended.
The open-plan kitchen and living area folds away via a glazed corner, connecting the interior directly to the rolling countryside. A double-height stairwell window floods the heart of the home with natural light. Upstairs, the master bedroom wraps around glazing onto a balcony, framed by slatted timber screening and vaulted ceilings that celebrate the full gable height.
Sustainability underpins the design. Features include solar panels, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, an air-source heat pump, EV charging infrastructure, and high-performance insulation. With an EPC rating of A and annual CO₂ emissions of just 0.2 tonnes, this home embodies our environmental principles and commitment to reducing energy demand.
