A former care home in Acomb, York, converted into an independent veterinary clinic, with a focus on sustainability and on standing apart from larger chain practices.

Green principles run through the design: bespoke FSC plywood furniture, low-energy LED lighting and a parking area made from recycled plastic and aggregate. Reception follows ‘cat-friendly’ guidelines, with separate spaces for cats and dogs.

Two consultation rooms serve the clinic, one with an x-ray machine and lead-lined walls for safety. A staff apartment and a rear garden for growing vegetables complete the conversion.
