Whole House Refurbishment and Extension

  • Location

    Harrogate

  • Completion Date

    2017

  • Project Cost

    £500,000

The project involved the complete refurbishment and extension of a substantial 1930’s Art Deco villa.
Phase One, completed in May 2016 included the make-over of a guest apartment with a bespoke designed external staircase.

Phase two, completed in the spring of 2017 included a rear extension to form an impressive kitchen/dining space and reconfiguration of the internal layout to include a feature staircase in glass and steel with leather handrail.

The client was especially keen to achieve a contemporary look which worked in harmony with the original art deco character. Materials and light fittings were carefully chosen to unify the various rooms. Externally the whole house was insulated and rendered with new aluminium soffits and rainwater goods.

A further improvement included the installation of MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery), which provides various health and comfort benefits as well as energy saving.
