Brook House
Super Low-energy Detached House
Our aim was to produce a sensitive design for a new-build house on a site adjacent to an existing village hall in the heart of Elvington Conservation Area.
The choice of materials was key in terms of helping the building ‘sit’ comfortably within a collection of existing trees. We combined heritage brick with glazed tiled panels in varying shades of green and yellow and softened the building further with a green roof system.
The external areas were carefully thought out so that the best private amenity space was achieved for the house while respecting the adjacent properties.
Windows were restricted within the elevation adjacent to the village hall so that noise from either property would not be an issue.
