The Little Theatre
Conservation and Refurbishment

  • Location

    Scarborough Spa, Scarborough

  • Completion Date

    2020

The Little Theatre at Scarborough Spa had experienced structural movement over a period of time, which caused the failure of the structural columns supporting the roof. The theatre was also suffering from water ingress, causing damage to the internal fabric within the galleries resulting in the closure of these areas from public use.

The works to the building included removal of an existing temporary shoring system to all elevations and a new permanent structural support to the facade of the Little Theatre. Surface water drainage systems were upgraded and the installation of a new waterproofing system to the deck of the external balcony and around the structural elements of the proposed structural support system.

On the façades existing over boarding was removed and repairs were carried out to window frames and sills.
