The Client wanted to convert 5 apartments within this Grade II Listed building back into a single family dwelling. The detached house sits in a prominent position within the conservation village of Askham Richard.

The work included creating a rear garden that was previously a yard used for parking and storing bins. We extended an existing annex at the rear into a two-storey double garage and gym and converted the loft into a generous home office and games space.

Internally the house was taken back to its original plan form as much as possible. The original box sash windows, coving, skirting and floorboards were retained and refurbished. Within the front garden new cast iron metal railings were reinstated.

The local community was very supportive of the scheme from the outset, as this would restore the building to its former glory as one of the most important examples of farm houses in the village.
